How to Play Worldvale

A quick path from your first steps to fighting, gathering, building, and delving — written for players, not developers.

Start Here: your first few minutes

Pick a class, a name, and a look, then step out of town. Everything you need to begin is already in your hands: a blade, a pickaxe, and a fishing rod.

Walk out past the plaza and you'll meet green slimes and bats. Swing at them (Space or click), grab the coins they drop, and bring that coin back to Pip's Trading Post for gear. Fill the XP bar to level up — more health, harder hits, a full heal.

Your first goal: clear a few easy monsters near town, buy a sharper blade and some armour from Pip, then push a little further out. The town square is a safe zone — nothing can hit you there.

Combat & Classes

Combat is directional: you swing in the way you're facing, with knockback, damage numbers, and hurt flashes. Three classes play differently:

Warrior
Most health, heavy hits, short reach. Later gains flat armour.
Mage
Glass cannon — long reach, big damage, faster casting perk.
Archer
Fires a real bow & arrow — a ranged shot, not a swing. Fastest on foot.
!
Run out of health and you wake up back in town, minus a few coins. Keep a potion or a fish for the walk home.

Gathering & Mining

Everyone carries a pickaxe. Walk up to a node and press E to work it:

  • Trees → wood
  • Rocks → stone
  • Ore veins → iron (and rarer gold deep in the cave)

Nodes hold a few units, deplete when worked out (they fade), and regrow after a while — so gathering is a renewable loop. Everything stacks in your on-screen inventory.

Building a Base

At level 5, press B to enter build mode. Spend the materials you've gathered to raise a base — a green ghost shows a valid spot, red means blocked. Click a placed piece to remove it for a half refund.

Wall

A solid block that stops monsters. Cheap — wall off a corridor and funnel them.

Archer Tower

Auto-targets the nearest monster in range and looses arrows on its own.

Well

Heals you while you stand near it — a rest stop away from town.

Done right, a base defends itself: monsters batter your walls and towers down over time, so lay walls to funnel enemies past your towers rather than stacking everything in one spot.

Fishing & Healing

Face a lake and press E to cast. After a moment your line tugs and you land a fish (sometimes two). Press F to eat one and heal on the move — handy far from town.

You also mend passively in two places: standing in the town plaza (the fountain) and near any well you build. Top up before a long trip out.

Progression & Perks

Every level raises your max health, attack, and reach, and heals you fully. Two milestones matter:

  • Every 5 levels — your potion pouch holds one more flask.
  • Every 10 levels — a stacking class perk: Warrior gains flat armour, Mage lowers its attack cooldown, Archer moves faster.

Coins go to Pip for a sharper blade, sturdier armour, swift boots, and potions. A hint under your health bar tells you when your next perk is near.

The Overworld

One shared, hand-shaped map: grassland, lakes with sandy shores, forests, and roads leading out from town. Monsters spawn in tiered rings — soft near town, dangerous at the far edges. A stone boss arena sits at the north end of the road, and a lone Slime King heaves up in the south once per session.

Follow the north road all the way off the map edge and it carries you to the Frontier — a tougher wilderness with its own map, richer gold, and harder packs. A road leads back, and you'll return right where you left. Click the minimap any time to open the full map and see where everything is.

The Cave

North-west of town is a cave mouth. Step onto it and the screen fades into a dark dungeon lit only by your torch and the sconces on the walls. Inside: winding corridors, fast spiders, deeper gold, and a chest with a real hoard in the farthest room. Step onto the glowing rune circle to climb back out.

Roads lead out from the plaza toward the wilds — and the cave.

Bestiary

Slime
Slow and sturdy. Hits hard up close.
Bat
Fast and erratic — catch it on the turn.
Wolf
Quick pack hunter of the mid wilds.
Spider
Cave ambusher — creeps, then dashes.
Ogre
Tanky elite. Rare, but pays well.
Slime King
Southern mini-boss. Guaranteed haul.
Ancient Golem
The world boss. You'll hear it wake.

Multiplayer

Worldvale is built to be shared. With a server running, other players appear on the same map with name tags and chat, and everyone fights the same server-owned monsters at the same health. Your character — level, gear, inventory — is one and the same online or off.

Building and the cave are single-player spaces for now; the shared overworld is where you'll meet others.

Tips

  • Heal at the fountain before leaving town; carry a fish or two for the road.
  • Mine iron before you try to build — towers need it.
  • Fighting the golem is easier after a few levels of armour or a base of towers nearby.
  • Lost in the wilds? Head back toward the crossroads — every road leads to town.
